James W. Wilson, 77, longtime publisher of the Carroll Daily Times-Herald since 1929, died Thursday afternoon. He won the Iowa Press Association Master Publisher award in 1951 and served as president of the Iowa Good Roads Association, the Iowa Daily Press Association, and the Iowa-Nebraska Press Association.

4-H Junior Camp Near Lake Darling Reports Camp Activities
About 111 four to six grade 4-Hers attended the Washington County 4-H Junior Camp at Lake Darling and returned Thursday morning. Julia Gamon led as Extension 4-H leader and co director with Karen Murphy directing. Camp featured crafts, nature projects, swimming, archery, canoeing, Olympics, vespers, and cabin skits with youth and adult volunteers assisting in planning and supervision.

Jury declines damages in 1973 Washington crash case
A Washington County District Court jury found no damages for either side in a 1973 traffic collision between Roger Reed and Evalyn Graber at North Second Avenue and East Fifth Street. Graber sought 45000 for injuries. Reed claimed minor auto damage. The three day trial ended with an 11 to 1 verdict after six hours of deliberation.

United Presbyterian Home Missed In State Medicaid Survey
Iowa blocked $3.1 million in federal Medicaid funds after federal officials ruled ten nursing homes, including the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, were not checked the prior year. State inspectors say they visited the UP Home in March and April 1976, but guidelines require at least one annual visit. The UP Home administrator says the error reflects state, not facility, responsibility, and other homes were visited by teams from Health, Fire Marshal, and Social Services.

Governor Ray vows court action over Medicaid cut
Des Moines Iowa Gov Robert D Ray said the state would go to court if needed to halt a 3.1 million Medicaid payment cut tied to HEW inspections.
