The Red Cross learn to swim classes in Washington's Municipal pool are delayed one week due to cool weather and pool opening delays. Start date is Monday June 23 using the original schedule. registration urged at the Red Cross office on the east side of the square.

In Parkersburg West Virginia two teenagers Susan Bailey 15 and Rodger Bailey 13 were charged with the murder of their father Charles Bailey after a rural South Parkersburg fire killed his wife and 10 of their children. Police say two others confessed to starting the blaze with gasoline. The family had moved into a six room home two weeks earlier and the grandfather survived.
Two of Iowa s largest banks raised rates on Monday following eastern banks, with Bankers Trust Co Des Moines lifting its prime rate to 8 percent and loans to individuals commonly at 9 percent. The move, said to help banks secure money for loans, comes as the 1969 legislature allowed a maximum 9 percent rate.
