Bulk Plants Carry Varied Line of Products for Their Customers
W F Messer of Shell in Washington notes bulk oil stations and tank truck drivers have expanded offerings over nine years. Firms now provide three grades of gasoline and motor oil, plus kerosene and an extended grease line. Increased fuel oil use, kerosene for home heating, and turkey brooders in Wellman area boost demand. Flavored fly sprays and dry cleaning fluids add to trucks’ duties, making deliveries resemble a mobile drug store. Two trucks operate in the county.

Elevated highway design wins prize for safer night travel
The American Institute of Steel Construction awarded a prize to the Hazelot and Erdal design for an elevated four lane cantilevered road. The plan features central safety lighting for night and bad weather and promises minimal property disruption while separating traffic streams and eliminating intersections. It argues such highways reduce 40,000 annual fatalities and 1.5 million injuries nationwide by improving traffic flow and safety.
