NASA seeks additional astronauts from 250 plus applicants
NASA plans to select five to ten new astronauts from more than 250 applications received after the April 18 call. About 53 come from the armed services, with over 200 civilians. Final selections by Robert R. Gilruth are expected in September or October for missions in Gemini and Apollo programs aimed at lunar flight before 1970.

Space Capsule Display to Come to Washington Weekend
The Airport Club brings a full scale Mercury capsule replica and exhibit to Washington for June 16 and 17. A flight breakfast is planned Sunday with pilots from the region attending, and visitors can also view a light plane and a helicopter from the Iowa Air National Guard.

Mrs. Edward C. Jones Dies at 82 in Wellman Home
Mrs. Edward C. Jones aged 82 died Friday evening at her Wellman residence. She was a member of the Wellman Methodist Church and will be buried in Keota Cemetery after funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. at the church. She was born Mary Ina McAvoy in Washington on March 30, 1880 and taught rural schools before marriage to Edward C. Jones in 1902. The couple lived on farms around Wellman before moving to Wellman in 1920. Survivors include her husband, a daughter Mrs Vic Klein of Dallas, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and twin sister Mrs Eva Coleman of Bay City Michigan.

Funeral services for Mrs Mada Davis of Richland will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Richland Methodist Church with Rev Frederic Harris officiating.
