Iowa Farmers See Smaller Loss on Records in 1932 Than 1931
Iowa farmers who kept regular farm business records show a net farm loss of 320 dollars in 1932, down from 818 dollars the year before, despite a 35 percent drop in average farm product prices. Lower operating costs, higher crop yields, and better livestock returns offset price declines. Net cash income was 530 dollars in 1932 versus 1006 in 1931. 86 percent of income came from livestock, with feed efficiency improving.
