Des Moines university may be acquired by the Baptist Bible Union of North America with negotiations to conclude next Thursday. The union executive committee inspected the campus and plans to build a firm business base and launch a $100,000 fundraising drive to clear the school’s debt. Dr. T. T. Shields said the movement aims to establish multiple Baptist fundamental schools, including the Eastern Baptist College due to open in Philadelphia next fall.

Grain prices on Chicago market open lower today
Chicago June 3. All grain prices on the Chicago board of trade opened lower as improved weather calms the market. Corn led the decline, opening two and one eighth to two and one fourth cents lower than yesterday, with other grains down fractionally to one cent. Traders expect better conditions may end the speculative trading wave that has driven record sales.
