Tragedy on Tracks: Waterloo Man Killed by Train
Benjamin Jones, about 60, of Cedar Falls, was killed when struck by an Illinois Central passenger train near Waterloo's west city limits. Conductor C. H. Fox and engineer C. W. Fawcette, both of Waterloo, were in charge. Jones was believed to be walking on the tracks at the time.

Heart Pushed Out of Place by Stomach Intestine
DES MOINES Melvin Leroy Kruse four, son of Mr and Mrs Harry Kruse Ogden, died from a ruptured diaphragm that forced his heart from its position. Doctors said the rupture allowed the stomach, part of the spleen, and a section of intestine to lodge in the chest. The child was brought to hospital after complaining of stomach pains.

George L. Duke died suddenly at his Maquoketa Iowa home. Funeral services will be held at 2 30 Thursday in the Baptist church, with burial in Elm Grove cemetery. He was 71, born March 15 1867 in Henderson County Illinois. He lived in Washington and nearby farms before moving to Maquoketa. Central Iowa towns Jefferson Boone Ames Chariton Albia Ottumwa saw more than two inches, with Nishnabotna River flooding 4000 acres of corn and several small bridges washed out. Two workers narrowly escaped drowning as flood waters swept a gulley.

Suspect Arrested In Florida Kidnapping Case
In Miami Florida a man identified as M F Braxton about 60 was taken into custody by federal agents during a kidnap probe into five year old James Batley Cash Junior.
