Ten killed on Iowa roads this weekend

United Press International reports at least ten people died in Iowa traffic incidents over the weekend. Fort Dodge teens Diane Hensley and Laurie Lee Christopher died at hospital along with Marcia Wiedenfeld and Gregory Lennon after a car train crash near an unlighted crossing.

Light sleeper saves Popejoy DX Station from theft

Sheriff officers credit a Brighton resident with thwarting a theft at the Popejoy DX Station by shouting at two young men as they loaded merchandise in a rear pickup. The suspects fled west after breaking a rear window and entering through the door. A few tires cash and license plates were taken. investigation continues. An exotic cattle exhibit joins the Washington County 4 H and FFA Fair featuring crossbred cows and calves donated by local beef producers to show new breeds to residents.

At noon on the last day to secure absentee ballots from the county auditor 113 ballots had been taken, including 10 from servicemen. Fair Week Opens With Record Entries and Exhibits
