NW YORK UPI two major coffee marketers General Foods and Albert Ehlers Inc announced sharp wholesale increases amid reports a severe cold wave could ruin up to 80 percent of Brazil's 1976 crop. General Foods raised ground coffee by 20 cents a pound and Ehlers by 10 cents, with instant coffee up 3 cents per ounce. Retail prices may rise substantially next year.

Police quelled a violent melee in Detroit's west side sparked by a bar shooting involving a white owner and a black youth. One officer injured by a brick, a police car burned, looting reported, and about 300 people gathered around Bolton's Bar before authorities contained the disorder.
