Minnie Lee Twogood 71 died in a two car wreck at a rural intersection two miles northwest of Lanesboro Iowa. The other driver Darrell Leroy Bradley 17 Rockwell City was not injured in the crash.
Rev. Kirby Webster of Marshalltown spoke to the Washington Rotary Club at noon about Rotary’s role in fostering international understanding. He noted 10,000 clubs in 110 nations, urged unity among free nations, and recalled his WWII service as EP pastor and chaplain. Dr. C. A. Boicee introduced him.

Ronald Greiner, 17, son of Mr and Mrs Raymond Greiner, was injured in a tractor accident near his home in Ottumwa. The machine overturned about a quarter mile from the house, his cap found under it. He cannot recall the event but reached home, cleaned up, and was later taken to St Josephs hospital with head injuries and multiple bruises. He is expected to stay hospitalized about a week.
Iowa City report from the Institute of Gerontology at the University of Iowa compares life expectancy in the United States and the Soviet Union. It cites U S life expectancy at over 70 years versus about 64 in Russia, notes Sweden Norway and the Netherlands exceed U S figures, and highlights India and Ceylon gains with women outliving men by two to six years.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms moved through Iowa tonight with higher activity in the central and southeast regions. Precipitation totals reached .29 inch in Dubuque and lower amounts elsewhere while highs Wednesday were forecast in the high 70s to mid 80s and overnight lows in the upper 50s to 60s.
A B52 Stratofortress from the 42nd Bomb Wing crashed near Limestone Maine during a routine training flight killing eight crewmen and leaving one survivor Maj Moody E Deaton of Denison Texas. He suffered facial burns and chest and back cuts but was listed in good condition. The crash occurred on Carl Ireland farm under light rain and authorities withheld the dead’s names pending next of kin.
In Lebanon, Premier Sami Solh escaped unharmed after rebels triggered a large booby trap on a mountain road. A Nash Rambler carrying four occupants was blown off the embankment killing four and injuring others. Solh’s convoy avoided the blast and moved on under guard. An American, Edward Mokhiber of Niagara Falls, helped at the scene.
Gov. Loveless met with five state agencies to craft a two part plan eliminating duplicate county and nursing home inspections. A blanket county home plan pairs Board of Health general checks with Fire Marshal follow ups. A single state inspection bureau could cover nursing homes restaurants barbershops and beauty shops in one inspection route.
Up to seven people died in a fight that followed a coup attempt against President Francois Duvalier in Port au Prince. Two Americans were reportedly among the dead, possibly a former Miami sheriff and a former U S embassy air attaché, but papers were not available to confirm their identities. The invaders landed at St Marc, then moved on Port au Prince and briefly seized the army bastion before a dispute with Magloire partisans sparked further violence.
A group of Wellman youths were injured Monday afternoon when two cars collided at the Bunker Hill road and county line road intersection northwest of Wellman. None were seriously hurt. Millice suffered a broken nose and Bringman head lacerations.
The United States becomes a full partner in the Baghdad Pact without signing the treaty. Secretary of State Dulles signed a joint declaration with Britain Turkey Iran and Pakistan at the Baghdad conference pledging support for security and defense.

Boys planning to attend the annual Washington YMCA camp session at Lake Darling must have their confidential physical examination cards completed before camp opens. Dr. E. J. Vosika will be at the YMCA to conduct the exams at 3 45 p.m. Wednesday.
Secretary of State John Foster Dulles returned from Baghdad Pact talks in London to confer with President Eisenhower on a possible summit with Russia. He would study Khrushchev’s note and weigh delaying a summit for weeks. Dulles said Baghdad steps strengthen ties with Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey.
A former secretary in the Iowa treasurer division says colleagues solicited campaign funds from her while employed. She alleges one percent of her $200 monthly pay went to campaigns, and claims all department workers were similarly solicited. The Unity Club at the Commerce Commission is under legislative scrutiny.
The Iowa Supreme Court reversed a lower court ruling and ordered a new trial, allowing Pittsburg Des Moines Steel Co. to withdraw from Clive Iowa. The company argued it receives no city services in exchange for taxes and that incorporation existed only to collect taxes.
The annual Camp Fire and YWCA camp session at Lake Darling ended Saturday after a week at the Youth Center camp site. Girls enjoyed archery boating crafts swimming horseback riding nature hikes and evening entertainment. Camp leaders and cabin mothers from Washington Crawfordsville and Cedar Rapids helped with activities and supervision.
United Press International reports Iowa weather turning partly cloudy through Wednesday with a few widely scattered showers and thundershowers in extreme south tonight. Tonight's low in the 60s and Wednesday's high generally in the 80s.
