Robert G Ingersoll died this afternoon at his Dobbs Ferry home from apoplexy. Born 1833 in Dresden New York he became a lawyer and Republican leader before turning to public lecturing. He lived in Washington and later New York and is survived by two daughters.

Sailors Rescue Boy After Squall Capsizes Canoe
Dr Arthur K. Prince of Springfield Illinois and 17 year old Fred Odiorne set out from Harbor Springs for Mackinac Island in a sailing canoe. A squall capsized them twenty miles along the shore. Prince saved the boy by keeping him above water and seating him in the boat before Odiorne died. A naptha launch discovered the drifted canoe with Odiorne’s body and Prince barely alive.
