A heavy shower dumped one inch of rainfall on Washington in the afternoon. The official observer reported the day as cloudy and cool with moisture in the county after thundershowers that crossed Iowa yesterday.
Washington County 4 H hosts an education presentation day with individuals and club teams showing and sharing details on specific projects. Girls presentations begin at 9 a.m. in the community room, while boys present at the Farm Bureau building west of Washington on High 2 and 1 at 7 30 p.m.
Cape Kennedy UPI Engineers aim to solve the last Apollo 15 test issue by running Endeavour through a launch pad test. David Scott Alfred Worden and James Irwin monitored the simulated countdown as a power fluctuation was reviewed. The issue is not considered serious and did not disrupt rehearsal.

United Press International reports Iowa tonight will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers in the northeast half and overnight lows in the 50s. Tuesday brings sunny, pleasant conditions with highs in the middle to upper 70s.
Heavy showers and severe thunderstorms struck eastern Iowa on Sunday, hitting Dubuque County hardest. A Dyersville trailer was lifted from its foundation, injuring a woman with flying glass. Minor building damage and downed trees spotted near Dyersville on farms of Lewis Pape and Gerald Kramer. One police officer treated for head injury after briefing as storm neared. Power and telephone lines were down, about 200 customers without power, and a roof blew off a farm house north of Epworth.

U.S. command reported 283,900 American servicemen in Vietnam as of last Thursday, with withdrawals averaging 4000 weekly earlier and then cut to 2760 weekly as schedules accelerated.
