Ancient Cottonwood Fell Near Franklin Landmark

In Franklin, a 21 foot circumference cottonwood west of Bert Booths’ house was felled Monday evening by Morrow, Edgar Porter, and E. F. Rudolph. It stood hollow and brittle, once sheltering coons, and would have yielded usable timber if intact. The event marks the loss of a local landmark amid a day of light rains and small-town chatter.
