Boy Killed When Truck Hits Bicycle Riders Near Ute
Gordon Lamp 10 and companion Kaytusen 12 rode a bicycle north of Ute on Highway 141 when a fruit truck owned by Alinski Fruit Co of Sioux City passed them. Lamp was crushed under the rear wheel and died en route to a Ute physician’s office. Stoner driver from Sioux City said he passed the boys and felt a bump under wheels before stopping. Coroner S. N. Anderson of Monona County investigates.

Unclaimed Death Shrouds Austrian Count in Wilton Junction
The body of Count Odin de Szaak, about 50, reportedly an Austrian-Hungarian nobleman and painter, was buried at Oakdale cemetery after he killed himself at Durant by drinking poison on his wife’s grave. His wife, Florence Schiele de Szaak, 26, formerly of Durant, hanged herself in Longview, Texas last February. His head lay on a red pillow with his family crest draped over his shoulders.

Alder Sentenced Five Years for Radio Theft in Cambridge
Des Moines reports Arley C. Alder, 50, of Cambridge, pleaded guilty to stealing a radio from Home Appliance Co. at 301 Locust St. He received a five year penitentiary term at Fort Madison after admitting three prior prison terms totaling 13 years dating to 1915.

Four Victims in Miami Grudge Killer Case
Police report a gunman described as a grudge killer entered a family room in Miami and shot Irving Leopold a 37 year old delicatessen owner his wife Esther Leopold age 32 their son Stephen and then abducted Ralph J. Morrin taking Morrin's car. The four victims were killed or died as officers launched a city wide hunt and found Morrin's wrecked car with a bullet hole in the front seat. investigators believe Mrs Leopold was the target and that the father and son may have been accidental victims.
