A Journal reporter recalls the 1865 homecoming of the 19th Iowa with tales from Mobile to Cairo. Col Crabb hosted a bring home dinner at the Iowa House and detailing mutiny rumors, delays, and a grateful reunion after five hundred mules and a tense voyage aboard the White Cloud and the R J Lockwood.

The past week drew large crowds for their singing led by first tenor B A Oakley and musical director N La Rue. The company includes Beatrice Smith and a large chorus with Beatrice celebrating a fifth birthday with friends and a luncheon. others hosted gatherings with peers and light refreshments.
A young man returning home from a moonlit outing discovered a bed-fellow in his room. The unexpected visitor turned out to be his cousin who had come to visit. Mr. and Mrs Durst of Richmond were mentioned in the piece.
