A wedding took place this afternoon at 2 in C J Wilson's office between William Tendricks of Mekhai's Mill near Brighton and Miss Maggie Haw of Pittsburg. Rev Logue officiated with Miss Haw's sister Clara as guest. Tendricks, aged past fifty, marries a 31 year old bride after correspondence and a Pennsylvania visit. The Journal congratulates the couple.
Dr. McKiwain ships his pacer Prosperity to Webster City Iowa for a 2 30 pacing race slated for tomorrow Lucy B begins this week in the Webster City event.
Real estate transfers listed from July include multiple names and parcels such as NJ Emry to Eliza Bshafer and Lichtner to Evins with undivided shares noted. An editor’s letter states J W Theren will run for sheriff, pledging independent, nonpartisan conduct if elected.
Local Prohibitionists invite men and women to Strouse’s Tall to choose delegates for the state convention, nominate a county ticket, and handle other business. Speeches announced by RK M. Dineen as chairman. Also notes on cures and local incidents follow.
The Washington County Normal Institute opened at the Academy and runs for two weeks in July. Nearly all teachers enrolled and the program includes lectures and entertainments open to the public. Miss Klass oversees the operation with a broad faculty including Go Mullin Colgrove Polman Eva Kellogg Mary Pratt and others. Attendees are listed by divisions with numerous names across many districts and schools. The morning chapel was led by Rev. Stark and a Mara Pratt lecture highlighted the afternoon.
The park receives new seating as workers apply an extra coat of paint prior to installation. Al Hott returned home Saturday night for a brief visit.
