Open house honors Geo Lords Ainsworth golden anniversary
Mr and Mrs George Lord celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at the Methodist Church parlors in Ainsworth. About 200 guests attended from Rock Island Aledo Ill Brighton Richland Washington West Chester Riverside Iowa City Columbus Junction Crawfordsville Wyman and other areas. The three tier cake decorated with white bells was baked by Mrs Burdette Stover and served with formal silver coffee service.

Shooting suspect to get mental tests in Missouri
A 13 year old Sioux City youth accused of killing his cousin Steve Peterson, 21, near Newtown Missouri July 3 was ordered to undergo mental tests at a hearing in Unionville. Richard Longnecker, son of Mr and Mrs Everett Longnecker, was arrested after Peterson was found shot with a .22 rifle. Prosecutor Harold Flood said motive was unknown. Christine Pearce, 17, Peterson’s girlfriend, was present but did not witness the shooting. Longnecker’s mother called the act an accident and a mistake.
