Searchers fail to find body in Skunk River

A report a woman's body was seen floating in the Skunk River south of the Highway 1 bridge drew peace officers from several counties. A night-long search by boat and ground crews found no trace of a body or anything resembling one. Witness Clyde Little of Brighton claimed to have seen it about 7 30 Monday evening. Authorities kept the Coppock Bridge lit through the night with a portable generator and two 500 watt lamps as the river was combed from both banks.
