Senate Rackets Committee Chairman McClellan branded the payments a racket and blackmail. The Washington County Hospital budget hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m. August 4 at the nurses home. Missing Plane Sought Near Guttenberg Today
Two Air Force helicopters aided by Civil Air Patrol planes search the hilly Mississippi River area near Guttenberg Iowa for a missing four passenger plane. The Milwaukee to Des Moines flight bound for San Francisco disappeared Friday. Passengers were Lester Weber 44 Lorraine Weber 41 Richard Weber 42 Frances Weber 29 all of San Francisco. Search teams expect no survivors amid bad weather and dangerous terrain.

Mills Marks 17th Year in Nash Service Garage
Gilbert Mills observes his seventeenth business anniversary this week. He opened his shop on North Second Avenue on July 15, 1941 and added Nash cars in 1950. The business has expanded twice and a warehouse was built to provide more space. Details appear elsewhere in the Journal.

Rumor Two Americans Killed by Iraq Mob
The State Department said unconfirmed reports indicate two American businessmen were killed by a mob in Baghdad on Monday. Sally Stevenson three year old daughter of Mrs Jimmy Stevenson of Philadelphia visiting Washington suffered a severe hand injury last night when she thrust her hand into an electric fan blades. She received immediate treatment here and was taken to University Hospital at Iowa City for special care. Hospital reports say treatment was successful and Sally is progressing satisfactorily. Mrs Stevenson is daughter of Helen Beal Holland of Philadelphia formerly of Washington. She is visiting Beal and Holland relatives with her two daughters Sally and Barbara.

False Fire Alarm Prompts City Warning
A false alarm, likely from a local youngster, led City Fire Chief Maynard L. Brown and Mayor May L. M. Eicher to warn that anyone reporting a fire without cause will be harshly dealt with if caught. Police later received a call claiming a fire at Bill Perdocks, but no fire was found. A second alarm that afternoon led to a minor stove flare at Warren Hampton residence two doors away with no damage.
