Cleveland woman sentenced after price tag incident
Theresa Boone, 29, of Cleveland, appeared at Bedford Municipal Court on crutches to plead innocent to petty theft, menacing, and resisting arrest linked to a department store price tag switch. Judge Zingales convicted her and ordered three concurrent 30 day terms in the workhouse. when asked what concurrent meant he stated the sentence, prompting Boone to leave with anger.

Local man shot in gun accident in Washington
A Washington man identified as David McArtor, 30, was listed in serious condition at University Hospital Iowa City after a personal safety gun incident Monday. He told investigators he was installing a scope on a .22 rifle when it fired injuring his upper chest and shoulder. Police classify the shooting as accidental and say McArtor called for help from his living room phone after being found in the kitchen by ambulance personnel. He works for the Army Reserve Area Maintenance Support Activity in Washington. An investigation continues.

Iowa plane crash in British Columbia kills four Iowans
Four Iowans died and four others were missing after two small planes in a Flying Farmers formation encountered rain and low clouds in a wilderness area south of Fort Nelson British Columbia. The dead include Roy and Genevieve Schultz of Castalia and George and Shirley Knudson of Decorah. Knudson was a Luther College chemistry professor. The other Iowa flyers were unnamed pending notification. A rescue team located the downed Cessna 182 piloted by Schultz and all four Iowans were reported dead on impact. the search for the second plane continued in dense bush with visual air search planned under fair weather.

Doctors say several strains of bacteria may be involved and officials have ruled out the water supply as a cause.
