Ainsworth Lions Sponsor Contest Entries Due July 25
The Ainsworth Lions Club will sponsor the Iowa Master Corn and Soybean Growers contest for local farmers. Entries must be submitted by July 25 to Dennis Stout, Route 1 Ainsworth, phone 657-3817, by mail. The Health Facilities Construction Review Committee will consider a plan to add 15 beds to the Washington Care Center by July 25. If approved, the $355,000 project would be completed around February 1975.

Remodel under way at Community Action Program Building

Washington Mayor outlines city plans and upcoming projects
In a recent interview Mayor Harold Johnson outlined a $229,000 city hall project financed from the J.B. Dill estate revenue sharing and prior tax money with no new tax funds. He cited 26 resurfaced blocks at $68,000, a storm sewer finish by November, two wells’ pumps within 30 and 120 days, and future needs including police radio upgrades and an aging fire truck, funded from local and outside revenues totaling about $590,000 yearly.
