Plane crash near Fort Madison kills Iowan core member
A single engine plane from the YMCA Flying Club of Fort Madison crashed about four miles south along U.S. 61 after takeoff from Fort Madison airport. Lyman Wiseman, 27, died at University Hospitals Iowa City from head and neck injuries. Gregory Bahl, 26, was in critical but stable condition at a Fort Madison hospital. The craft landed on its top, one wing broken, after hitting a highwire. traffic on U.S. 61 was detoured for about three hours. Destination unknown.
