Seot the collie that saved many lives along the lake shore reportedly died after a boy named Tommy Peterson ten year old lied about the dog. The dog leaped into the lake to rescue the boy but was killed after the alleged deception.
A dog dragged a youngster to safety in a lake incident. Scot Happen bit Peterson on the leg as the boy feared punishment for disobedience and bathing. Mrs. Peterson notified authorities. a policeman shot the animal after friends rushed to the station, before rescinding the order.
In Princeton Indiana on July 4 a white dove entered Evansville Southern railway round house where Louis Songer died. The bird perched near Charles Songer for about twenty minutes before a telegraph arrived with news of his brother’s death, an omen noted by workers and a German observer.

Miss Sarah Munson of Zanesville and Ernst Alfred Northcotte of Chicago were married at Ebenezer Buckingham's Lake Forest summer home. Munson had moved from Zanesville with her parents to Los Angeles, and Northcotte, secretary of the Great Southern Gas Co., had been ill and hospitalized before Munson returned from California to nurse him back to health.
The man recently released from hospital with his friends headed to Chicago last Saturday. The couple, tied to a wealthy English family, intend to proceed to California as soon as he is able.

Logansport Indiana July 4 The Panhandle passenger train due at 7 30 am was struck by a Menominee train at Monticello Tuesday. The rear of the last coach on the Panhandle train was splintered crushing the right foot of Michael Britton of Reynolds. The two trains neared the crossing at the same time and the switchman became confused. The Panhandle engineer pulled the train to safety and cleared all but the last coach.
T F Ward vice president of the Lemars National Bank Plymouth La was arrested in Jersey City on a warrant by US Commissioner for the Western District of laws. Ward is charged with altering a draft for 88000 against the Lemars National Bank and applying the difference to his own use. He waived examination and consented to return to town.
Leamy of the United States geological survey arrives in Springfield Missouri from Mount Sterling Kentucky reporting the discovery of lithographing stone in large quantities near that city. Specimens have been sent to the government survey office in Washington. This marks the first discovery of lithographic stone in the United States.

Sioux City July 4 a suit for 100000 has been filed against T J Stone president and director of the old First National bank alleging he diverted misappropriated and converted funds to his own use. The bank failed in 1896 and the suit questions the legality of his management of its affairs.
