Mrs Lloyd Turnipseed, 66, died this morning January 28, 1966, at her home 925 South Second Avenue after a five year illness. Funeral Monday at 1 30 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev M O Smith. Burial Elm Grove Cemetery. She was born Verne Gladys Noecker January 26, 1899 in Washington County. Survived by husband and three daughters Mrs Lloyd Gladys Fredman of Ponoca Pa Mrs Eugene Dorothy Wead Wellman and Mrs Robert Martha Lowe of Washington two sons Merle and Lloyd Jr of Washington 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was a life long resident and member of the Methodist Church.

Washingtonians faced the coldest night of the winter with readings from 6 below in the downtown area to 11 below at the Northrup King plant on the town’s edge. Many residents reported 9 or 10 below as well. No significant warming occurred and another cold night is expected. Cloud cover moving in helped prevent deeper temperatures.
Basketball Clinic Saturday For Washington Boys
A community YMCA sponsored basketball clinic welcomes all Washington boys not just members. High school coaches John Sproule and Wally Horn, plus varsity players, will teach techniques. Third and fourth graders meet 9 a.m. in the high school gym, fifth and sixth grade at 10:45 a.m. Sessions end at 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. respectively. Jerry Ridley chairs the organizing basketball clinic during National YMCA Week.

Reapportion suit hearing set by Iowa Supreme Court
The Iowa Supreme Court scheduled a 1 p.m. February 10 hearing on a reapportionment suit appealed from Polk County District Court. Senators Rigler and Foster, along with two Des Moines residents, filed to challenge the interim plan for subdistricting of multi member counties and called for a special session to adopt a new plan. Judge Perkins had dismissed the suit in November, ruling the interim plan constitutional as an interim reapportionment.
