Jarlick of Delaware county, owner of a Petersbug general store, on first automobile journey, collides with a truck near Manchester, wrecks the car, with no license plates or insurance.
Vern Rip Henry the torture robbery suspect who plagued southeast Iowa after the Eddyville robbery escaped from Wapello County Jail. Sheriff Harding said contraband likely reached Henry during visiting hours. Meanwhile 19 truckers in Oskaloosa were fined two sentences suspended on license and light conditions.
Gov Clyde Herring announced a bill to create a central bank for public deposits in Kive Town. He said a fence would be built around Iowa funds to stop money from leaving the state and flowing to eastern banks, urging strong state control.
VINTON Fifty county men will work on the new street surfacing project at Belle Plaine. The work will be Friday weather permitting and will not last long. Surfacing in Belle Plaine is to be done by the work crew. Medical Society Will Care For Poor STON The Clinton County Medical society bid $16 500 to care for poor patients in the eastern half of the county including Clinton city.

The trial of W. J. Norton on larceny by embezzlement began last week and evidence was completed by afternoon. County Attorney George Morrison led the defense with two witnesses and questioning of former county supervisor RE Brown, who denied giving county dynamite to Norton for personal use. Deliberations were expected to start after two oclock this afternoon.
The annual county inventory shows last summer drought cut county home property valuation by about 1500, with food stocks in the cellar to last weeks. Total valuation stands at 17129.24, down from 18609.86 a year ago, amid provisions, poultry, livestock, and farm machinery details.

DES MOINES Jan 24 The House launched a second attempt to pass a state NRA bill as an extra general assembly was filed while the Senate debated a medical science bill requiring practitioners to obtain state board certification with osteopaths and chiropractors held to physician training standards. The House met briefly, the Senate planned an afternoon session. DES MOINES Jan 25 Little was added to the legislature's two week record as observers saw the administration reining in reforms amid a slow start with most bills in committee and adjournment expected until Monday. The concurrent liquor control investigation measure moved to the Senate Judiciary No. 2 after House passage. Mortgage moratorium extensions were anticipated as first bills.
A meeting in Townsend discussed barrier methods to stop chinch bug movement. A. D. Worthington of Ames described barriers including tar paper, dust furrow, and trenches, plus crop management and lethal collection.
Roy Finch and Wilford Blight opened the Radio Shop in the room opposite the war office. The store features new and used radios, rental radios, and radio repairing services. Both owners bring prior experience in the business.

Pineal services for Mrs Tow McFarland will be held Saturday afternoon at Sherman's funeral home under the pastor Dr J C Witt of the Methodist church. Hal will be in the Ainsworth cemetery. Mrs McFarland died yesterday at the home of her son Ever ette Molesworth in Des Moines where she had wintered for five years. She left Washington for Des Moines last September. Phillips was born in Washington county June 21, 1845, daughter of Wittlund and Marthe Patterson Phillips. She lived in this county most of her life except recent years. She was married 15 years to Tom McFarland who died 12 years ago. Her son is the only near relative surviving. Going from Des Moines today for the funeral.

House vote lopsided at 128 to 1073, signaling strong executive leverage and reduced Democratic pressure except on an annual detailed accounting of relief expenditures. Senate action on the world court adherance is postponed to next Monday.
Frigid air moves again across the state with temperatures dipping toward ten degrees below zero in the east. Federal meteorologist Charles Hed notes a new cold spell will be less severe than earlier in the week and shorter in duration. Dubuque reported the coldest last night, with six degrees below zero.
