Blakely nightclub operator charged with four first degree murders

Homer Salter Jr., 23, of Blakely Georgia was charged with four counts of first degree murder for the execution style slayings during a robbery at a Brocery gasoline station. Police sought a second suspect as two other people a 17 year old boy and three men were killed.

Fatal Cabin Fire Claims West Chester Woman

A 47-year-old woman, Darlene Miller, died in a fire that gutted a two room cabin off highway 92 in West Chester. Miller, formerly of Muscatine, lived with Jesse Harvey and was alone when the blaze started just before midnight. Authorities suspect an electric space heater or cigarette. autopsy to be performed in Iowa City. Fire officials say the fire began in the bedroom. Wellman Fire Department aided, protecting nearby structures owned by Wayne Owens. Harvey and Miller had lived there only a few weeks.

Explosion at Iowa propane terminal kills two workers

An explosion and fire at the Mid-America Pipe Line Co. propane terminal four miles east of Towa City, Iowa, killed Terry Guthrie and Tony Bryant and injured three others. Witnesses described flames rising 150 feet and a large smoke cloud.
