Murder charge after Ollie tavern shooting
SIGOURNEY IUP) A 37 year old truck driver was charged with first degree murder in the fatal shooting of Rex Ruggles 24 of Ollie at a tavern Tuesday night Norman Caskey of Williamsburg faced arraignment and pleaded innocent before Justice of the Peace J R Hermanstorfer. Caskey was held in the Keokuk county jail without bond. Witnesses said he walked into the tavern spoke briefly with Ruggles and then fired three times at close range with a Belgian revolver before laying the gun on the bar and telling the bartender to call the sheriff.

Mrs Whitmore Dies in Fairfield Hospital
Funeral services for Mrs. Ransom Whitmore of Fairfield will be held Saturday at 10 30 a m in the Abingdon Christian Church. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of the arrangements. She died Wednesday at the Fairfield hospital and was the mother of Mrs. Dwight Robison of Brighton.

Trucker’s Semi Wrecked in Missouri Fog
A semitrailer belonging to Washington Livestock Auction Co. was demolished when Jim Drayfahl of Bright struck a bridge in fog near Jacksonville Missouri. Drayfahl’s condition was reported as good by owner Jack Scheeler. The truck was three weeks old and the loss is about $15.
