The United States will sponsor a U N resolution accusing Communist China of aggression and set up a committee to decide next steps. Britain declined to co sponsor, with about a dozen countries reportedly reluctant to join. The measure carries no sanctions or condemnation clause.

Keota resident Mae Graff escaped serious injury when his car collided with a deer north of Amana Friday night. Two deer dashed into the path as he neared home from the northern part of the state. The front of the car was crushed but he avoided a 20 ft embankment. Officers note three deer were struck near that spot this year.
A marriage license was issued at the courthouse to Russell Gilbert Whitaker of Fairfield and Jane Ellen Dickinson of Brighton.
Iowa's December egg production reached 871 million, a new monthly record, with a rate of lay at 1,221 eggs per 100 hens. For the year, Iowa produced about 4.788 billion eggs, a new high, while milk output totaled 409 million pounds, slightly above 1948 and 1949. Cattle on grain feed also rose, marking a record for that date.

Alaskan residents faced extreme cold with interior readings reaching 63 degrees below zero and Fairbanks food supplies damaged after a central heating failure. Temperatures were forecast to improve to five below zero, while coasts saw mild springlike weather and Lake Michigan storm warnings were issued.

A Polk county grand jury indicted Joe Rogers 33 for first degree murder in the Des Moines hotel lobby slaying of Grace Del Vecchio 35. Police said Rogers admitted shooting her last December 3. He was captured December 19 in Kansas City Kansas and remains jailed without bond.

In Stillwater Minnesota a subfreezing midwinter picnic drew about 2000 people. Bathing beauties wore long underwear under swimsuits while panama hat wearers enjoyed ice cream and frigid lemonade as 47th National Guard units played a horseshoes match. The prize was a gallon of frozen ice cream that thawed with help from a blazing tire.
