Surviving crew of transport ship rescued after fire

A fire gutted the newly remodeled American Legion hall in Fairfield Iowa causing about 30000 in damage reported by hall manager Earl Litton. Fire began around 4 a m and burned for about seven hours before being controlled. The interior suffered total loss with most damage to the rear. Two nearby plumbing shops sustained water damage.
