State Bank Holds Annual Meeting
Stockholders of the Washington State Bank met January 10 with 1,727 of 2,000 shares represented. President Frank L. Kos reported asset growth to over twelve million dollars and U S Savings Bond sales exceeding three hundred thousand dollars, more than triple the Treasury quota. Directors re-elected were L A Holland Frank L Kos Merritt E McDaniel E D Morrison Jr John Winga Logan Heilman and John H Miller. The board then elected officers led by John Winga as chairman and Kos as president and trust officer with Heilman as vice president and trust officer.

Drug sales tied to slaying of Days and others in Hawaii

The Iowa Senate opened a detailed review of a two year effort to grant cities self governing powers. The measure, already passed 87-2 by the House in 1971, would let municipalities operate broadly with limits mainly on taxation and bonding and would take effect January 1 1973.
