Gas pipeline blast lights up Iowa sky near Centerville
A Michigan Wisconsin Natural Gas pipeline exploded Friday near Centerville Iowa 52 miles west of town. The blast blew a two foot diameter pipe from the ground igniting a 12 hour fire within a 1000 foot radius. No injuries were reported as Detroit officials planned pipe replacement by noon. Firemen estimated a 25 by 55 foot crater 20 feet deep and noted the wind spared property. Residents reported a bright sky glow seen up to 100 miles away.
