Three games scheduled at the high school gym this evening with a junior college freshmen versus sophomores curtain-raiser at seven. Bloomfield plays Washington at eight as a potential upset risk for the favored Washington team. The night ends at nine with the Y Leaders of Washington facing a Crawfordsville independent squad, a season two game split. Collins of Town State Teachers college referees the junior college game. Al Capone was found guilty of contempt of federal court by Judge James H. Wilkerson in Chicago and sentenced to six months in jail. The decision came after final arguments and marked Capone’s first local conviction in ten years of gang leadership.
The Iowa senate approved 33 to 0 a measure allowing banks to open offices in adjacent towns lacking banking facilities. The offices would cash checks and take deposits but cannot make loans, and would be discontinued when a local bank opens in the town. The bill now goes to the governor.

Truckers overloaded with excess tonnage faced fines and plate changes. three drivers were fined 25 dollars each for carrying loads over 25 percent of capacity.

Marion O Loughlin civil war veteran and former sheriff will be honored Sunday at 2 30 PM at L A Jones funeral home. Dr F W Eastwood of the Presbyterian church will conduct the service and burial will follow in Woodlawn cemetery with a grave service in charge of the officiant.
The third fire in Washington this week damaged Roy Tlumston's restaurant, formerly Pat's cafe, around 7 20 this morning. Firemen entered the attic after chopping through the roof area and quickly extinguished the small blaze. The frame building, long at the Kos property and now owned by George Kos of Riverside, stored attic articles with no material loss.
The Masons civil war veterans and Sons of Veterans will attend the services as groups. The body of Mr. O Loughlin died yesterday at the Iowa soldiers home in Marshalltown was brought to Washington late yesterday by J A Jones accompanied by James O Loughlin a son of Kalona who drove to Marshalltown
Des Moines Feb 27 Three Iowa senate bills to bolster law enforcement passed. Introduced by Senator Lafe Hill Floyd county the measures include allowing peace officers to carry loaded firearms in vehicles while on duty a state bureau of investigation permit system for state officers and a ban on machine gun possession. All bills advance to the senate for action.
Police raided a Philadelphia exclusive club yesterday seizing liquor valued at about 100 000. The incident followed a prior raid on the Manufacturers club by Director of Public Safety Schofield, who admitted he was unaware of the second raid until press reports.

Washington Feb. 27 A request by Col George AiJams director of the U S veterans bureau urges world war veterans not in actual need to delay loan applications for a few days to allow veterans in poverty to be served first The bureau plans telegrams to regional offices to speed loan payments and adds funds to ensure prompt disbursement The aim is a smooth machine ready for the new task.
In a preliminary declamatory contest William Masson and Raymond Wittrig of Washington won first in oratorical and dramatic divisions with Victor Hess of Keota first in humorous. Second places went to Glenn Smith Keota Pauline Gardner West Chester and Marjorie Smith Washington. First place entrants advance to the sub district contest March 13 with location undecided.
Six condemned men were electrocuted in South Carolina for murders of two men. The group included John Arkwright Tillman Poozer George Byrd James Hickman Robert Eldredge and Ernest Thomas. Pooter confessed killing Lexington county watchman D Mills. It marked the largest single execution in the state.
