Bedford Iowa February murder case unfolds with Horton and Mrs Johnston awaiting charges. Horton denies guilt while frantic and defiant, claiming frame by the older woman. Mrs Johnston admits helping plot the murder during an affair with Horton. both held without bond. Horton seeks an Osceola attorney by Friday.
Cedar Falls Iowa The Iowa State Teachers College reports 1019 students registered for the spring term with 246 men and 773 women. Registration day is yet to come on March 9.
Opera stars Gladys Swarthout will appear in Ottumwa at 8:15 PM Thursday in the high school auditorium as the closing act of the Civic Music association 1935 36 program. The glamorous mezzo soprano is known for concert opera radio and film work.
Fairfield officials prepare four red glass read signs for night use to control traffic in fire zones with the message Stop Fire Zone. The signs will be placed to guide motorists and safeguard emergency access during fires.
A DYSART report says a carload of 2 dairy cows from Springfield Missouri was delayed by snow blockades. Calves were born en route and one cow died of shipping fever. The cattle, purebred Jerseys, were bought by Floyd Dunlap, a farmer south of town.

In Charles City Floyd County John Page lost 65 hens when a hen house fire swept through. After extinguishing the blaze he killed the remaining birds by beheading and skinning, then canned the chickens. The shed was insured.
