Des Moines column notes a bill introduced by Rep. C E Lookingbill of Nevada allowing Ames to levy a maximum 2 percent mill for a new city library addition. The measure, signed by Sen. L L Doran of Boone, was also introduced in the senate.
A warrant was served on Frank Johnson charging assault with intent to commit murder. Police allege he drew a knife on a daughter during a family dispute at the Johnson home and struck her multiple times, causing bruising.
Dick Top 14, son of Mr and Mrs Bert Top, is hospitalized with head injuries in De Bey hospital after being struck by a Vogel Paint Co truck driven by Gerritt Roghair. Investigators believe he may have failed to see the vehicle while crossing between parked cars.
Cedar Rapids reports a government employment service under Maynard L. Downey will provide placement for farm hands and farm couples. Applications show wages from 25 to 40 dollars per month for individuals and 25 to 45 dollars for couples.
Derrol Kaufmann age two of Marshalltown suffered burns while sleeping in his crib. He was ill and an electric plate used to boil water for treatment. A sheet placed over the plate caught fire.
Iowa City The University of Iowa marks its 90th anniversary with a Founders Day celebration theme on the rise of higher education in the state. Prominent educators and state officers attend an education conference and banquet. Fifteen university and college presidents will join the audience as President Lotus Coffman of Minnesota and President James B. Conant of Harvard speak.

Mrs Clyde Knight and daughter Peggy Ann of Chapman Nebraska visit sister Mrs Lauder Kennedy this week. Mr Knight joined for the weekend from Friday to Sunday before returning home.
Delbert Fuller and Frank Perrin of Wellman were charged with larceny of a motor vehicle after taking Clark Bauer’s car and wrecking it near Washington. They waived preliminary hearing and are bound over to district court in $1,000 bonds each.
