Dr. Hilton M. Briggs of Stillwater Oklahoma A and M college has authored a new college text on Modern Breeds of Livestock. The work, the first such textbook since 1931, is adopted by several leading agricultural colleges for animal husbandry. Briggs, son of Mr and Mrs J Weaver Briggs of Cairo community near Columbus Junction, is noted for 4-H work in Iowa and received the 1929 Thomas E Wilson scholarship. He graduated from Iowa State College in 1933.

Musk rat pelts recovered in Ottumwa amounting to about 1600 by Worthington county and Wapello sheriff deputies. Simon Peter Wyse Wayland Farmer Dies at 83
Simon Peter Wyse 83 retired farmer two miles east of Wayland died at Mercy hospital Burlington at 3:30 AM after a six day illness. Funeral plans are pending, awaiting word from distant children. He was born near Wayland January 30 1867, married Caroline Bicher February 1 1893, survived by wife two daughters Leonard Wyse and Ora other relatives incl two half sisters three grandchildren and four great grandchildren One grandchild was killed in World War II.
