Mrs Florence Verel Dies After Illness in Wellman
Mrs Florence Wilson Verel of Wellman died at home Friday morning after a three week illness at age 84. Cremation will follow no funeral service per her plans. She was born September 25, 1860, on a farm south of Wellman, daughter of Monroe and Eliza Wilson, married Lewis Verel in 1890, lived on the family farm until his death in 1940, then moved to Wellman. She is survived by a nephew Floyd Wilson and several cousins.

Fire Destroys Farm Home Near Richmond
A farm home two miles south of Richmond belonging to Mr and Mrs Lee McGuire was destroyed by fire on Thursday at 1:00 PM. Kalona fire trucks fought to contain the blaze but the roof caved in before they could save the structure. Estimated loss is $8000. The McGuires lived on Anton Malichky’s Richmond farm and only household goods on the first floor were saved. A defective chimney is suspected as the cause.
