Governor Blue, seeking re-election, declined comment. Olmsted has long GOP ties and West Point background with wartime service.
Velda Spangler sues Albert R. Spangler in district court seeking a divorce. Petition notes marriage in Carthage Illinois on January 25 1946 with separation February 1 1946 and restoration of her maiden name Velda Magner.

Des Moines reports Iowa's postwar highway program cannot be delayed due to current prices. Fred White says highway-bid costs run 25 to 75 percent above prewar levels, and the commission will continue letting bids. So far contracts total $4,500,000 for highways and $700,100 for secondary roads, with $1,300,000 of secondary projects advertised for bids in March.
Crawfordsville resident Robert Johnston Ferguson Sr died yesterday at his Crawfordsville area home on the family farm held by the Ferguson lineage for 102 years. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Crawfordsville United Presbyterian Church with Rev. R. M. McCracken officiating. burial will follow in Crawfordsville Cemetery. Born August 4, 1861, he was married to Mary Melissa Clemens in 1892. she died in 1895. He leaves a son, Earl I. Ferguson, and a sister, Elizabeth J. Ferguson of Washington.
Albert Oreutt won the Beamer residence on Hast Secon street at county tax auction for 4000. Five bidders competed with George Clark as auctioneer. Orcutt plans repairs including roof, painting, and basement work and may convert the dwelling into two apartments.
National rail unions vote almost unanimously to strike with a joint strike call likely issued late February after ballots counted. Separate reports say telephone workers plan the greatest walkout in communications history, with federation leaders authorized to set a stoppage date and a possible delay if talks resume.
Henry Ford I accuses Chester Bowles of implying Ford acted secretly to seek a 55 percent price rise last July. Bowles testified publicly about the price-boost application before the House Banking and Currency Committee in Washington. Ford said Bowles did not note that the estimates were submitted to OPA before price regulations on new cars were announced.
