Kennedy condemns Surabaya attack by irresponsible elements

UPI reports Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy blamed irresponsible elements for anti American vandalism in Surabaya, Indonesia. About 50 rioters attacked U S and Japanese properties, leaving leaflets critical of Kennedy's visit. no injuries. Kennedy called the act unfortunate and urged goodwill toward the United States.

Kennedy trade bill gains support in Congress

President Kennedy seeks a liberal five year textile accord and broad tariff powers. Hearings on the trade bill set for March 12 with Wilbur Mills leading the Ways and Means panel. Doctor Madison Kills Family Then Ends Own Life

In Columbia South Carolina Sheriff Sligh says the pattern points to Dr Vincent J Madison killing his family at a bungalow and then taking his own life in Washington D C. The doctor a Syracuse New York native and Army Hospital physician disappeared Wednesday and was found dead in a hotel room with a pistol nearby.

Hitchhiker Killed in Crash Near Marengo

A car crash on U S 6 near Marengo killed hitchhiker Robert J. Gould of Smiths Creek Michigan and critically injured the driver Dolly Jones of Des Moines and three other occupants Curtis Sample and Tom Dunagan both of Des Moines and the unidentified fourth person. Police and workers needed almost an hour to extract victims from the wreckage using a wrecking tool after the car sheared two telephone poles and collided with a third.

Agriculture Secretary Freeman said Kennedy’s balance proposal is the only controversial part of the four point program.
