Iowa painter Russell Cowles son of Gardner Cowles publisher Des Moines has his first New York exhibition in 13 years. Cowles who began painting at age three won the 1915 Prix de Rome granting three years of study at the American Academy in Rome.

Four men who robbed and kidnapped a bank messenger in Sioux City and released him near Ft Snelling are being hunted in a Twin Cities manhunt. Ernest Newman, a private investigator, examined police portraits to identify the suspects. The group reportedly divided $1500 taken in the robbery.
