Adams admits guilt in second degree murder case

Richard Dean Adams of Kalona pleaded guilty to second degree murder for the August shooting death of his wife Judith Rae Adams at their Kalona home. Judge Ira F. Morrison accepted the plea and set sentencing for 11 a.m. February 25.

Highland pre-registration survey for 1977 kindergarten

Highland Community Schools conduct a pre-registration survey to determine kindergarten enrollment for the 1977 78 school year. Children must be five years old on or before Sept 15 1977 to be eligible. Parents should call a school principal before Feb 15 and leave the child’s name for records. Calls taken by any elementary center in the district.

Honor Band invites two Washington High seniors to UI festival

Donna Davisson and Linda Bash, seniors from Washington High School Band, were accepted into the 1977 University of Iowa Honor Band. The festival runs February 19–20 on the UI campus with a free final concert at 2:30 P.M. February 20 in Hancher Auditorium. Frederick Fennell of the University of Miami conducts the honor band.

Burns differs with Carter on tax rebate plan

State assessor and deputy assessor exams set in Des Moines

State Revenue Director Gerald Bair schedules semi annual exams for city or county assessor and deputy assessor. Deputy assessor test on March 27 and city or county assessor test on April 2, both at the Lucas State Office Building in Des Moines. Eligibility hinges on passing the exams and receiving certification from the director. Local officials may appoint only those certified as eligible.
