Pleads guilty in drug case tied to jail incident
A 24 year old Brighton man Ralph C. Sistern pleaded guilty here to intent to deliver a controlled substance in connection with an incident at Washington County Jail last July. District Judge Ira Morrison set sentencing for Feb. 18. He admitted attempting to pass a controlled substance to a jail inmate on July 28, 1976. He had originally pleaded innocent and trial was to begin Tuesday. The conviction carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $2,000 fine.

Balance in Iowa client security fund tops six hundred thousand
The Iowa Supreme Court fund to protect clients from dishonest lawyers has a balance over $614,000 prompting a cut in annual attorney assessments from $15 to $10. In 1975 two reimbursement requests totaled $250, one auditor noted, with ongoing disciplinary actions and a pending claim of $1,332. Total receipts for 1976 reached $160,115 with $54,272 spent, including $38,845 in salaries. Trust accounts of 557 law offices were audited to ensure proper handling.
