Third Farm Home Burns Near Osage
A third farm house within six miles of Osage burned near the J. H. Chatman farm northeast of town. The fire started beside a chimney and was spotted by a neighbor and a passing trucker who alerted the Chatman family. All occupants escaped including J. H. Chatman an elderly, ill man. Mrs. Chatman. and Oliver Makepeace, a WWI veteran. Some belongings were saved from the first floor. This is the Chatmans’ second “burned out” experience on the same farm.

Funeral for Ralph Bunce Set for Saturday
A late change moved Ralph L. Bunce funeral to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines. Bunce, former Iowa state deputy superintendent of banking, died Wednesday night at Iowa Methodist Hospital after six months of illness. He was a Plymouth Congregational Church member, cremated with spring burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
