Local Option Beer Bill Passed by the House
DES MOINES the house approved the local option beer bill by a 69 to 39 vote and sent it to the senate after three days of maneuvering. The measure would let counties cities towns or townships decide by ballot whether retail beer sales are allowed within their boundaries with a one year phase out for retailers if banned and earliest effect would be November 1947 with no election before November 1946.

Mrs. Hoskin Dies At Daughters Home
Mrs. Castilla Hoskins died at 655 this morning at her daughter Mrs. Robert Meunchs home on Clara Barton street. She was born August 1, 1863 in Cantril Iowa and married Alvah R. Hoskin in 1886. Funeral will be Saturday at 1 30 PM at Turner Mortuary Cedar Rapids with burial at Oak Hill cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, three brothers, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
