Mrs Mabel Munn Charles died after a three month illness. She was president of the Iowa State Poetry Society. Surviving are her husband Dr John B W Charles and two children. She belonged to the Iowa State Teachers College education department. Funeral arrangements were announced locally.

Hampton man sentenced for driving while intoxicated
Kyle Schweiger, 23, of Hampton, pleaded guilty in district court and was sentenced by Judge M H Kepler to three months in jail for driving while intoxicated. He was arrested in Mason City December 6 and indicted by the January grand jury. he is the son of Franklin County Sheriff F C Schweiger.

Family of seven perishes in Pa house fire
