Iowa Farm Bureau proposes tax changes to cut property taxes

The Iowa Farm Bureau outlines 1965 legislative goals to replace property taxes with a single rate net income tax or higher sales and income tax rates. Key aims include state aid for schools, agricultural land tax credits, reapportionment, highways, and daylight savings time. They urge using new revenue to aid local governments and property taxpayers, and support increased agricultural land tax credits unless other replacement plans exist. They call for immediate reapportionment action and endorse districting within counties for multi-member seats. They oppose cutting road-use funds for secondary roads and favor broad property tax replacement before new taxes, while preferring uniform time with a seasonal adjustment proposal.
