Fatal collision near Garner injures teen
Otto Christen ton, 46, of Blue Mars Minn, was killed instantly when his truck collided with a semi on icy Highway 69 nine miles north of Garner. His son La Verne, 16, was seriously injured as James Raimeny of Sherburn lost control and jackknifed. Hancock County Sheriff L M Brower reported the crash.

Council Bluffs draft board certifies two men as draft delinquents for failing to inform the local board of address changes. Rescue by Sub II Saved Gen Giraud During North Africa Mission
Captain Jerauld Wright of the U S Navy commanded Rescue by Sub II in a night off the French coast. He evacuated Gen Henri Giraud and several French officers to Algiers on the day of the Allied occupation. In Columbus Junction on December 28, three tracts of Kron farm land were auctioned to settle Frank Kron estate. Twenty acres timber pasture sold for 60 per acre, sixty acres unimproved land brought 90 per acre, and one hundred twenty acres rolling occupied by Albert Kron sold at 57.50 per acre.
