Five Children Die In Indiana Apartment Fire

In Richmond Indiana five children died as flames swept an apartment while their mother Mrs Marilyn Moore was in a hospital giving birth. The victims were Richard four Pamela two Billy one and James four John two Patterson nephews Thelma Patterson was mother’s sister staying with the children. Fire blamed on a gas stove. firefighters arrived too late and the mother was hospitalized and in shock.

Fatal Iown shooting near Madrid shocks town

Madrid authorities and state game officials will question two 17 year olds over the fatal shooting of Joseph Short 17 who died after a .22 rifle wound to the head while rabbit hunting with three youths one mile east and a half mile south of Madrid Sheriff Rollin G Evers and game warden Warren Wilson assisted in the inquiry with Jack Titus 17 and Allen Lantz 17 named as participants Huxley Allen said Titus signed a statement alleging Lantz fired the fatal shot and investigators noted violations of hunting law including use of flashlights.

Ex-Convict Confesses Slaying of Minister

Ex convict Lynn E. Houck 28 admitted Tuesday night to killing Rev. Roy Decker 72 at a Brooklyn Michigan farmhouse. Police say Decker was struck with a hammer, bound, doused with fuel oil and set afire. autopsy found death by suffocation. Houck had been living as a winter poacher at the closed farmhouse since Christmas Eve.

Olive Munro Dies Near West Chester

Olive Munro 80 died Thursday December 28 1961 at her farm home 3.2 miles northwest of West Chester where she lived all her life after a six month illness. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home Rev Arthur Peters presiding burial in Keota Cemetery. Born October 5 1881 to David R and Mary A Pierson Munro she attended local schools and Washington Academy. She belonged to the Garden Club White Way Club and Federated Church at West Chester. Survived by four nieces and one nephew.

Airliner Lands On Wrong New York Field

An Eastern airliner with 55 aboard landed at Mitchel Air Force Base by mistake instead of Idlewild. Pilot Richard H. Hamann noticed the error and took off after 25 feet, then diverted to Idlewild, arriving two minutes ahead of schedule. Passengers reportedly received the welcome expected at Idlewild.
