Reddy given public service in Davenport manslaughter case
Richard M. Reddy, 34, a former Bettendorf teacher, was sentenced in Davenport to three years of public service at near poverty level after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the October 1976 death of his wife Roselyn. The couple had suffered the loss of their child Shannon, 7, who was struck by a car. District Judge Margaret Briles stressed atonement and said the work program must be approved by the Department of Correctional Services and the judge.

Iowa 4 H members aged 12 to 17 may join a four week summer visit to Japan under the Japan Labo Iowa 4 H Exchange Program. Delegates live with Japanese host families in mid to late July, visit Tokyo and other regions, attend a Labo camp, and learn basic Japanese. Officers of Washington Federal Savings and Loan Association signed a contract to purchase the ground floor and basement of the old National Bank of Washington building in Washington from Eugene Zehr.
