Des Moines UPI reports a 62892 dollar federal contract awarded to the Iowa Farmers Union under the Manpower Development and Training Act for an experimental on the job training program. The program will place 125 persons with small businesses for training in various occupations and aims to include farmers and small town residents. Rep. Ruth Shearer a clerk for nearly 25 years and acting post mistress from 1962 to 1963 will retire on Thursday December 30 1965. Teen-agers rescued from huge cavern in Iowa
Two 18 year old explorers, Richard Hamilton and Gary Schecher from Keenanee Illinois, were found in a Crystal Lake cave near Dubuque after spending a night without light. Their lighting failed. they waited in place for rescuers and were unharmed.
