The move postponed the Christmas recess and a Thursday meeting was set to seek a settlement. West Coast floods force 6000 from homes
Floods swept across northern California and Oregon with no end in sight as rains continued for a third day. At least eight people died and more than 6,000 fled homes. rainfall totals topped 6.28 inches in Blue Canyon. Govs Brown and Hatfield declared disaster areas and ordered National Guardsmen to aid relief and deter looting. Vietnam generals mull go it alone anti American policy
